Why do British people spit in the streets? I have not seen this disgusting behaviour any were in Africa!?

I am not racist, I am a white African. Maybe they do spit in the slumbs in Africa, but in the UK they do it in the High road. Can you imagin people spitting in the street in Sandton ?

Your knowledge of Africa must be very limited, Africa is a very large place after all.
I have seen folk spitting in the street in Africa, I have seen folk lying dead in the street in Africa.
Right outside Lagos airport was one place!!
That is both spitting and a dead body!
I'm not trying to say that no Brit ever spits in the street or that all Africans leave dead bodies laying about the place.
This is one of those 'generalisation' questions that are usually design to get right up noses, like "Why do all Brits have rotten teeth"? Or "Why are all Americans fat"?
I can see some merit in those comments, they are a 'wind up'
and good for a bit of banter, but I cant find any humour in yours, perhaps I've missed something???

Not all British people spit in the street, but the ones that do are common dirty little chavs.

It is more prevalent in other countries and cultures, in some places I've been it almost seems socially acceptable to do it.

But it's never been acceptable in UK to do it, except it seems OK to do it if you're a footballer. They have got it down to a fine art, dredging it up from the pit of their stomachs before rolling it around their mouths and flobbing it out as far as they can.

They'll be dumping on the pitch next.

I have seen people all over the world from numerous countries spit in the street.

China was the most noticeable and disturbing.

I think spitting in the street is disgusting no matter who or where, but it isn't related to any single country or people. It is just poor manners of the person you saw.

Isn't it foul, I must add that although I am British I do not do that, but the other day I saw this teenage boy strutting around and he snorted up a lovely load of gobb and spat it out only for it to land on his shoulder! So he wiped it off onto the nearest lampost... lovely chap.
Have you noticed that the football players do this on telly too? It's just ridiculous, no wonder some people are so disgusting if that is what their 'heros' do.

I am not British but very much African. You are maybe blind. I see people spitting snot out every day as well as pissing and shitting in the streets of African towns, from Capetown, Windhoek, Maun, Johannesburg, Maseru, Lulambashi, Harare, Mombassa, Dar es Salaam, Lagos, etc etc....

spitting is common all acrost the world, its something that people do, even if it is disgusting ( if you try looking up the red wall.. you'll find how it says red.. Bleurgh!).

unfortunatley, britain is amidst the "Hoodie culture", whereby people have to act tough and big, how do they do that? they spit everywhere.

personally, its neither Big, nor touch, it just shows stupidity and spreads disease. yuck!
