For video games, the original 'Resident Evil' made me jump a time or two. The first 'Silent Hill' was extremely creepy, kind of like a lingering fear of the unknown.
For movies . . . the first 'Evil Dead' movie had a moment that freaked me out. I can't remember any others.

My ex used to be sh!t scared of those things called Mumblers (I think) in Silent Hill. He wouldnt play the game in the night and when he did play it he had to have the lights on. I couldnt see what was so scary personally! I hate it in horror films when a character goes to look out of the window and theres someone/thing looking in. The whole of The Ring 1 freaks me out aswell.

Yes either your answer or when you meet the dogs for the first time, in Resident Evil 0, I was just walking through the hallway chatting to a friend and then WRAARGH we both "messed ourself" Good old Capcom

Ooh agree with Sues answer but for me the scariest game has to be the series of Silent Hill oh the anticipation scares me everytime!

the game.. used to play it wen i was about 12 and used to think the man was following me..
its not actually scary though... lol...
movie.. has to be the Ring.. hate it.. cant go out in my garden for about a week after as I have a well...

When i watched the ring for the first time and that freaky, scabby girl came out the tv, i was so not expecting that. but them i watched scary movie 3 with the ring girl in it that was hilarious!

The Ring One towards the beginning when there's a flashback of the cousin dying and she's sitting in the closet.
