Do you have a system restore that you need to do? If that's what you mean try hitting F10 then do a non-destructive system restore. You won't lose all your files. I know because I know how to un-lock the file folders that are private. I myself had the same troubles with my compaq.

Ok so after doing a system restore go through the windows register process then restart and hit F10 again.

Go into safe mode and enter your password and then go into your c: and into documents and settings then click on the folder with your last account's name on it.

Then click on the right side and go to properties and try to over ride your last folder and then you should be able to recover your old files.

If I were you get Norton Anti-virus and then protect your computer with that.

If you need more instructions please e-mail me at Gamer_Vice@yahoo.com and I will try my best to help you out. If need to please feel free to chat to me on messenger for further guidance.

I would begin with a good virus software. McAfee or Norton are the only ones I use but I am sure there are others out there. Be sure you have the latest version and scan the computer. If that fails to fix the problem:

1. Back up all your data files onto disk or CD.
2. Format the hard drive and install your operating system (Windows 2000, XP, etc)
3. Install the antivirus software again being sure you have the latest version. The installation process will clean the system as it is installed.
4. Jump up to the anti virus software's web site and perform a virus definition update. Then scan your computer again.
5. When the system is up and running clean with only the anti virus software and operating system you can load your other software. Be sure to set the anti virus software to run in the background protecting your system. If it discovers a virus it will notify you and you can clean that virus up at that time.
6. Finally when you have the system clean, anti virus running in the protection mode and your programs loaded you can insert the data files CD or disks and before you open any files use the anti virus software to scan the CD/Disk. It should find any virus on the media and allow you to clean it before bringing the data onto your system.

A word of caution: if you have important files (check book etc) you might want to print them out as well as back them up. If the anti virus software cannot clean the virus from the file it will delete it and you will loose that information. If printed out at least you can key it back in.

Very long process - in some instances overkill. But if the manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc) is not available or will not help you then this is the most detailed fix to the problem.

acquire A abode windows XP installation disk, burn it with ability Iso or the different software or placed it on a bootable flash stress. Then placed it on your computing device, boot from the disk, and format your C stress, doing a clean installation of abode windows XP. whilst it asks for a serial, only use the single on the edge of your computing device.

If you have the CD of your O.S. you may try to reinstall the software but it is risky saying the fact that important files may be deleted: also the other name of reseting , according to my friends, is called "reformating"
