Because only red or white neon signs are permitted in Les Champs Elysees.

You mean the McDonalds there, don't you? It's the only one in the world not yellow.

I used to be a coach (tour bus) driver and used to point this out to my passengers. It's a bit of coach drivers' lore, and true.

Its because only certain colours of neon are permitted on the Champs Elysee - dont know which though - obviously not yellow.

Maybe it stands for mayonnaise. Thats what they put on their fries there, not ketchup. Its pretty nasty, but it's true. LOL. M for mayo!
