I'm not too sure about that (I had a male hamster once and the only reason I knew he was male is cuz when he cleaned around that area his little "thingy" came out!!), but you shouldn't keep 2 hamsters together unless they were actually bought together and are female. If you mean that you want another one to put in with the one you have, they will literally kill each other!

A teddy bear hamster? I've never heard of one. I only knew of Syrian and Russian Dwarf.... It sounds gorgeous whatever it its.

Male hamsters have an elongated rear end. Sometimes they swell to what looks like huge proportions. I'm embarrassed to admit, I once took mine to the vets thinking there was something radically wrong with it. (Over 30 years ago) I'd only ever had females before that.

I'm now going to look teddy bear hamsters up, I need to see what I'm missing.

the best thing to do is look under there tail, depending on the breed of hamsters there are ways to sex them, general hamsters such as syrians will have enlarged bottoms much bigger than usual this is there testicals, with dwarf hamsters there will be two seperate holes if they are close together is is female if they are far apart it is male

Oh yeah, male teddies get a real nice big "sack" between their back legs. It isn't hard to spot. Usually it will have less hair on it then the rest of the body. Almost looks like a tumor, but of course, it isn't.

The surest way to tell is by looking at the anogenital distance. This is the distance between the genital openings (penile opening in the male, vaginal and urinary openings in the female) and the anus. This distance is much shorter in females than males (in fact the openings can be difficult to distinguish in females while they are separated by about half an inch in males).

Also you can look for nipples because only female hampsters have nipples
