Working hard does help - but in the current competitive world, Working Smart makes more sense. You should know when and where to put your hard work rather than slogging for something which is not going to get you any returns.

Working hard has helped me so in different times and situations. The feeling of being concentrated to my work makes me forget all the rest (a break up I had to deal with recently) and when I was going back home I was so tired to feel sad or anything else plus I was feeling happy for being so creative in my office.

It does help but you have to work smart hand-in-hand with work hard. If you only work hard, you might be missing out on the bigger picture. So work hard and work smart.
Cheers!

Working hard helps to distract me from the drudge of everyday life and helps when I am depressed as well. It distracts me and I get paid for it. When I get home the problems come flooding home again.
