I have come to the theory that people simply believe in a higher power because they cannot except the fact that they are here for no purpose, is it so hard to beleive that we simply evolved and that we are our own masters? It makes death so much easier to believe we will go somewhere when we die, so people cling to the idea that there is some greater purpose for them. The simple reason religeon was created was because it gave us purpose, it gave us something to protect, to die for, how many people do you think would sacrifice themselves in war if they knew that once they died that was it? Is it at all a possibility that religeon was created? What is the easiest way to scare someone into doing good? By telling them if they dont then tehy spend eternity in hell, isnt that what the church once said?

First of, this theory has been around for almost 2 centuries. So, NO, you didn't come up with it. Second of, you are right that people created religion because they don't like the idea of their good deeds not having eternal rewards and, more importantly, bad deeds done to them going unpunished. That's where mythses found their birth, as well as religion, law and order. However, i do not think we just evolved. Surely, there must be a master mind; a great artist behind skies, and birds, and flowers and sex and the smile of a new born baby when angels are tickeling it :).

Religion is man-made. I don't agree with religion. True Christianity is of God as Jesus Christ. God is more than a theory. He created us. Evolution makes no sense at all. How in the world did something (humans) form out of nothing? The Bible is true. Every part of it. And I believe it because it is God's Word. And God is real. I have had so many prayers answered.
If we were our own masters, this world would be worse than it already is because everybody's view of what's right and wrong is warped. Without God there would be no rules, no government, no sanity. He is the only reason people are succcessful. If not for Him, we would all be living in dangerous, poverty-ridden situations.
I bet that the majority of the people who don't believe are people who claim to be intelligent but have never dared to pick up the Bible and read it to see what all the fuss is about. Open it up and see for yourself before you talk about people. then we can have a real conversation.

In the beginning belief is psychological. Later belief become intuitive. We can not ascribe any reason for belief. How we get faith in our self is a mystry. It has to come from within us and not from outside us. If the faith you get is from outside there is a possibility that you may lose that faith. But inner faith is just like anchor. Because we are born low.it is by growing up we are able to care for ourselves .Everybody is aiming high,so there must be a higher power,which is God.
