What are poems?

Tender little breezes
on warm summer nights
gently whispering love songs
with no agenda
with no home
with only a desire to cool her dear one
and make him smile

There are no rules for poetry in general. It's a collection of words that paint a picture. It's freedom. It's touching emotions.

There are rules for particular kinds of poems, however, that include some of the ideas stated above.

Commonly, poems are a form of simple communication with 'deep meaning'... a form of art and fascination.

Thus are commonly not 'distinct enough' to have their meaning accurately described thru different words or without the author... They can be fluffy bs; and THAT would make them an annoyance, or just something that's not meant to be thought about.

A well constructed, 'proper' poem portrays clarity of deep thought and meaning.

So..... in being art, they are whatever YOU see them as.
