OMG! As an avid Stephen King fan I would be hard pressed to name one short story as the best. But, I would have to agree with, " Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". If you can find a copy of his short story anthology, Different Seasons, every story in it is great!

Oh, Stephen King is just the best. But I have to say that my favourite short story of his has to be "The Long Walk". Written under the name Richard Bachman. I also have heard that they are concidering making it into a movie.Something to look forward too.

At this moment I would say The Library Policemen, closely followed by The Long Walk, 1408 and finally The Boogeyman.
