I'm 40 and I sleep 5-6 hours a day. Is this enough? Probably not...I go to the gym, eat right so its enough for me...

Sleeping gives perfect relaxation and relaxatin is erquired for physical hard workers. For a perfect healthy man, the preference is 8 hours where up to 6 hours is necessary. Less than 6 hours culd be possible for those who are always alerting mind. But, if circumstances permit, minimum 7 hours recommended plus/minus one hour for situational needs as per the expert opinions of the world health experts.

It depends. Usually 7 to 8 hours is the answer. Some people of your age need need less. It's more of personal satisfaction. If you feel relaxed and fully awake when your alarm clock rings that's the sleeping time your body needs. You should give enough time for deep sleep and release of growth hormones for rejuvenation of your body.

Doesn't matter if you are four, fourteen or forty. You should at least get 8 hours of sleep. Some doctors say that those who have a lack of sleep will not do well during sexual intercourse.

are you wide awake during the day? if so, 5.5 hours might be okay for you. i think health professionals would say 7-8 hours is recommended.
