i read that they have plans for season 3, and that actress Sarah Wayne Callies (who plays Dr. Sara Tancredi on the show) is actually pregnant so the writters plan to have her character arrested and imprisoned. And also there will be new important female character in new - 3rd season.

It will either end this season (that was the original plan), or next year. I can't see it going any further than that, most of the characters have been killed off except the core 5, so it's just a matter of getting them in place to finish out their stories. Supposedly the producer/creater of the show shopped it around as a two year show when they were looking for a market for it.
