Gay marriages are not legal at the federal level of government in the US.

Gay marriages are legal at the state level in Massachusetts only.

Vermont, Connecticut, & New Jersey have civil unions which provide some, but not all, of the rights and responsibilities of marriage at the state level.

Legal yes, but only recognized by Massachusetts and even that is on the state level. Some places have civil unions but again only on the state level.

They are legal here where i live. South Africa, alot of gay people come to get married here. Beautiful country but lots of crime.

For some strange reason, no.
Apparently granting this civil right seems to be too difficult for american lawmakers.
Civilized countries however (like Canada) extend this right to all people, not just hetero couples.
