Who was the first (world) footballer to be transferred for £1 million .... I know Trevor Francis was the first British million pound transfer but there was surely someone before him. - I was thinking maybe Cruyff's transfer from Ajax to Barcelona!!

in 1973 Cryuff was sold for £922,000
in 1975 Giuseppe Savoldi - Bologna - Napoli £1,200,000 - Making him the first £1Million man
Trevor Francis was sold for a Million in 1979 by that time Paulo Rossi had already been sold for £1.75M in 1978.

in 1975 Giuseppe Savoldi moved to Bologna from Napoli for £1,200,000. He was the first because Trevor Fancis only started playing in 1971, so he would have been making his name while this transfer went through.
