Yes. However, to achive dual channel mode (if your motherboard supports it) you must have two matching speeds, CAS latency speeds, and capacities (AKA to be safe use the same brand, model, and MB size for this type of configuration). This generally applies to DDR and above.

one thing i was unprepared for was the speed of the memorey. Make sure it is as fast as the memorey already on your computer. Like I have 200 speed, I was about to buy 256 mb more SDDRAM pci slot thingy's when I was told they would slow down my computer bc they were 100's instead of 200's.
The memorey only goes as fast as the slowest part

Yes, if they have same speed and latency. If not, they will work on lower speed. But, memory modules sometimes has a strange habit to refuse working even if they are of same kind. You can not destroy anything. Give a try and if they work - ok, if not (or your system is not stable) try with some other combination....

Together it's not a great idea, but on their own it should not be a problem. Just make sure they fit (duh) and that you get all the drivers installed etc.
