I must not have got it either. I didn't like or relate to any character in the movie. Nothing happened to the characters, and it wasn't funny. I saw the bike jump scene in a trailer, and the was the only part of the film that even approached funny! I was bored and turned off within the first five minutes, and I'm not going to throw away two more hours of my life to watch it again in hopes that I'll get it. I felt insulted by this garbage, and I'm only glad that I didn't pay to see it.

I think that the movie has reached cult classic stage primarily for two reasons.
1. It is fun to watch with friends or with a group of people. In comparison, look at "Rocky Horror Picture Show," the ultimate cult classic. The film was hated at first, but found an underground of people who made it fun to watch with someone. "Napoleon Dynamite" made it fun for people to see with a group, not everyone likes it however.
2. Quotability. Just like any good cult classic, there are lines that even people who hated the movie find funny. Any great classic is quotable, and this is no exception, even for those who don't find it funny.
I for one did like the movie, but I saw it with five friends in the theater and we started out not liking it, but by the end found it funny, and really liked it as we started quoting it to each other.

I know exactly why people fell for this movie. The Napoleon Dynamite character was successful in channeling into those comedy fans of black humor like no other movie I've seen. This was like a say---guilty pleasures cache of scenarios that we are really not suppose to laugh about in the real world. We were all able to purge it with this film!Be it stupid, silly, ridiculous or crazy,it's all aimed at humor.I got it from the first viewing and just love that movie tremendously! I hope you can see my point of view. It's all just comedy!

Thats what a cult classic is..a movie that people love in spite of its box office failure. I love Napoleon Dynamite, its the randomness of it. It gives you a peek into the life of a geek from Idaho with nothing to do. You have to have that kind of humor which I guess you dont.

I have no idea other than people seem to love juvenile humor. I was turned off by all the hype that it received, which even then I didn't find funny or anything else of the sort, and didn't even bother watching it.

The action picture has some seize words ("do chickens have talons") and a gaggle of filler. this is one in all them movies human beings purely make relaxing of the main character the way he says stuff. The greater you watch it the greater useful it gets, kinda. you're suited nonetheless. it is not a solid action picture.

Because it was so stupid it was funny.
There were parts in it that were so ludicrous you had to laugh, like the time machine part, "hold on, I forgot to put in the crystals...", that part made me laugh...
Just something about the silliness of it all I guess.

just a weird brand of humor that you either get or don't. it's hard to explain why some people like certain humor and others do not.
