Why are Brits so serious?
As an Bostonian it always amazes me when the British answer questions on this site in such a serious manner, when it is so obvious there is a little humor intended from the question.
if you check out my last question, you see a example of this.
Now i know we don't all laugh at the same things, but come on Brits please lighten up
Life is for living not for being touchy
In fact I often spank the Monkey whilst watching the movie the Queen! Oh how I wish I was an English woman having sex with all of those fine athletic Englishmen. I often email the Millions of English Transvestites ( more than any other country mind you!) . And the way they smile for Photo's with their perfect teeth! I am so glad that when I travel there they are all so kind whilst waiting in line at McDonald's awaiting their feast! They Invented Monty Python you know!

Community Property Laws give us very little to laugh at. Thank God for the Brits or our lives would be oh so dull.
No Taxation Without Representation doesn't seem to hold as much for us as it did in the 1700's How about you Hey have you ever seen our Queen Mary or our London Bridge. As soon as the fog lifts over there go look they're both gone.Did you know that the Irish invented flatulence, but the British perfected it. If your so British why did your Mom name you after a city in Australia. Here you want something funny. I'm up at 4:00A.M. answering questions from a guy that calls cookies crumpets

A joke can't be a joke without someone/thing being the 'target' if you make a 'joke' you are trying to 'offend' someone however lightly.
Why aren't you intelligent enough to realise that some people will take exception. The vast majority of people have ignored your question as to immature to bother with.
I'm an Englishman and am embarrassed to have to read the sort of rubbish people like you write.
Only joking LOL

I think the reason we have no sense of humor is what has been determined as POLITICALLY CORRECT. We are not allowed to laugh at religion, race, disability, trauma, etc or some interest group will be down you neck ready to haul you off to court. It might be considered all right to make fun of your self, although I've tried to make fun of myself to get a laugh, only to be told that you shouldn't put yourself down- self-esteem you know. I wish all of the interest groups, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists would just disappear so we could all have a really good laugh. I don't mean to allow bullying. But it is getting where people hardly dare say anything any more about anything. Freedom of Speech has nearly disappeared. We are only allowed to say what the journalists tell us to say. If we disagree and don't have a lot of degrees and are not in the right environment, you better shut up. The press is taking away our freedom. In order to get anything published you need to be very well connected. Time to get off my soap box and go to sleep.

Without seeing your last question, I may not be able to pinpoint the issues it raised. But let me say, as a citizen of that country, that America is in the midst of a very tense, charged and ugly time politically right now. Very polarized and frustrated with their leadership. When people are tense, they don't laugh readily. Ever noticed that?
That's my answer.

Well, I'll tell you. We have a complete IDIOT for a president. His staff has what many consider some of the most evil men who have ever held power. I won't name names but you don't want to go hunting with one of them. Now if you follow the rants of the american version of the christian Taliban or the right wing arm-chair generals and arm-chair presidents, sad to say these are some of the most vile "patriots" I've ever had the displeasure of knowing through their immature , irrational, and moronic propaganda. And yea, I need to mellow out and take a deep breath and sing the "I'm a Lumberjack" song,LOL!! Have a good weekend

Americans don't have the same sense of humour as us Brits, I think this comes from them not having the ability to laugh at themselves. I don't know why this is, maybe an American can enlighten me.
Also when you think about it the British have come up with so many hilarious TV programmes e.g Monty Python, Only Fools and Horses.... the list is endless, but I can't think of one American comedy that actually makes me laugh!

As a "Yank", I have to tell you that British humor escapes us sometimes< although it is "Hysterical", when it is Good, Like "Monty Python", which has left many of us crying and holding our sides with Laughter, their seems to be a very "British thing" in their comedy, for a male to dress up as a female. British audiences seem to find this "Hysterical", while the American just looks at the T.V. and blinks his eyes, not getting it ?
