I have to admit-I've participated in this -wearing green and sometimes even dressing up like a Leprechaun and going to the Irish Restaurant/Pub to act silly on this day-however I was raised by Irish Nuns in a Catholic Boarding School adjoining a Convent. And the nuns got us into celebrating St. Patty's day with a special barbeque and dressing up in green outfits etc so it kinda stuck with me-So what's your excuse? LOL

Not every country in the world celebrates St. Patrick's Day, lot of people in the world have never heard of St. Patrick's Day. Only countries that have Irish communities celebrate that day.

Take for example Chinese New Year's. In Vancouver you can say that everybody celebrates it regardless of their background. It's such a big event for one community that makes the others want to join in!!

People love a good party....but the Irish culture is a rich one, and I would hope that that is a big reason why many people celebrate it.
