I believe luck and persistance to achieve a certain objective.
Another essential ingredient is time and place for a particular need.
For instance: Would Bill Gates be 'Bill Gates' if he were born in 1492?

Ambition and drive are the key elements. The simplest of ideas can be turned into money-making opportunities. Someone who strikes upon a simple, novel idea, that can be widely distributed stands to win out. A goal in mind, a willingness to try a different approach, and the know-how to do so is why people are usually uber-successful in business.
That's my two cents for ya.

You have two possible scenarios:
1/ A very good, and very simple idea. (e-bay, You tube, Walmart etc)
2/ You become totally obsessed with yourself and sacrifice everything, including your dignity, to become famous.
