It won't fit. The laptop DVD RW is much smaller and has a different design unlike the standard PC.

It may not actually fit into the casing, unless there is some form of cradle device that can be used or a holder that acts as a conversion.
You should however be able to plug it into your PC onto the systems boards, or maybe even usb or some converter.
So it may have to sit on your PC with wires everywhere but at least you can use it.
In fact, it is such a good idea I am going to do the same with my old one!

It doesnt fit on it's own, but you can buy an encasement that will allow you to install it on a desktop. Im not sure what they're called though. And I think you have to buy an IDE adapter to allow you to hook the tiny Laptop plug up to a standard desktop.

probably not, depends on nthe connection, u need an IDE interface, laptops dont usually have CD/DVD with the correct connector to fit a desktop
even swapping between different types of laptops is difficult
best with a USB one

No.
They use micro IDE connectors & smaller power connectors. You can use adapters to connect it but why spend the money on a device not designed for your PC ?
Just get a regular desktop drive ... they are available for under $50 :

You could probably make it work, but mounting it in the pc would be extremely hard (or impossible). How cheap do you need? You could get one for as low as $24.99 brand new.

It will not work if its is not a external DVD. only external DVD/CD can work with usb interface. if u r about to purchase internal then not to do that. u need a converter for using which is not available.
