Why is there a paygap between men and women?

There isn't any gap in pay. Women get equal pay for equal work around here.

Now say you have a man and a woman who work the same job for five years and get exactly the same amount of pay. Say the woman takes off for maternity leave at reduced or no pay. Now at the end of the five years, the woman will have made less overall.

If you figure it out to average amount paid per hour, it's going to LOOK like she's paid less.

I've had jobs from age 16 to age 31 and I have NEVER, EVER had an issue with being paid less than a man for the same job!

Because, even though it's the same job, lots of women work part time and get maternity leave (something most men cannot take; only a few workplaces are addressing that inequality). That drives down the average pay for women a LOT. Actually, women make more than men in many jobs . . . . Have a nice day!

Alexandra is correct, there is essentially no pay gap between men and women today...if you look at starting salaries at any major corporation, they are identical and equal for men and women...disparities start later in their careers when women take time off to have children...time off from work means less professional experience, hence less pay than men who have stayed at their firms during the same time....the so-called "pay gap" is due to some (many) women using statistics incorrectly and unfairly.

becasue women usually work part-time or need to take time off to have children or can not work as much as a man does becasue it is her responsibility to take care of her children when they get ill or get segregated into 'female' careers take the profession of all, where are most women, well they have been segregated into family law and do not do criminal or business law that makes more money

The Feminist-friendly survey group that did that survey years ago, included women who work part-time by choice. Since them, the feminists have trotted out that statistic that women are payed less than men.

It simply isn't true. The myth has been destroyed, but it keeps popping up in the pro-feminist press.

We live in The Feminist Republic of America.

Because women are bad at math. (Or possibly good at math but also good at deliberately distorting figures).

For the same work performed, a woman gets the same pay as a man and has for several decades.

'cos the world is still 'man-controlled'. for as long as it is so, then it will be so. it takes both gender to make that equality. surprisingly, in both western and non-western society, its the same. look at the tribes and the so-called advance societies, isnt it same? women are exploited differently. so how??

That's only what they tell us. Egotistical men still rule.
