I would like to write a letter asking any clubs if they may be interested in purchasing a boat. If they are then to purchase the boat they will have to make an offer by closed bid

Typically (Boating) Clubs do not buy Boats - their members do.

Visit a few Club and check out their Notice Boards (both physical and web pages) = you will find many advertisements for Boats posted up ...

I suggest you create a similar ad. and ask each Club for permission to post the Ad. on their board, perhaps with the wording 'Best Offer (over ££££ Reserve Price) made received in writing by closing date will be accepted'

You could also check out eBay to get some idea of the ££££ 'reserve' price (and in fact you might well get a better offer from some-one on eBay)

It is more usual to put a closing date bid in a magazine
