A block in the circulation is cleared and the pins and needles are the blood flowing back into the area.

A number of reasons, bad circulation, blood deprivation to the area affected which could be caused by repetitive action (blood pooling) you can get pins & needles in your feet when training on an eliptical cross trainer at the gym or sitting with your legs cross or constant pressure to the same area.
Other reasons, tight socks, shoes too tight. If you get p&n's in your legs/feet regularly then you should consult your doctor as this could be problems in your back (trapped nerve or disc problems)

see a chiropractor. I had the "pins and needles" feeling and "spiderweb" feelings come and go on my face, arms, and sometimes legs. my neck was all out of whack and since all your nerves go through your spinal cord in some way-it can effect all parts of your body to have a misalignment in your back or neck.
ps.chiropractors are real dr's (some say they are not) they go to school for years and dont just try to cover symptoms with meds-they get to the root of the problem and fix it!! I waited 25 years before I went and I feel better in the last 5 yrs I have been going than I ever did before!!

pins and needles are caused by low oxygen supply to that part of yor bod hence twhy you get them in your leg after sitting on it you can also get them when your typing because yor blood vesel is bent and so not as much blood can get to ist and thats why the blood pools in your feet and causes pins and needles old deoxygenated blood that cant travel back to the heart to collect more oxygen. good luck x

A combination of lack of circulation and increased pressure on a part of the body ie sitting on a part of the body you're not meant to, because you're cutting off your blood supply to that part.

Poor circulation is one thing... like if your foot falls asleep it's because you weren't moving your leg to help circulate the blood. But when that happeneds to me my feet or arms just get really cold. :)
