The baby is four months old now, i didn't do this with my first two and with my third i didn't do it to this extent. I've slept over an 18 hour stretch when i've had someone to watch the kids.

oh sweetheart. try not to sleep. sleep keeps you depressed. You know you are depressed by the amount of time you spend in bed. Get out do something with the baby, your significant other, family members. Get some sunlight into the house. Until you avoid sleep you will feel tired. You have to get on a set pattern for sleep and keep to it. Try to avoid long naps. I know with a new baby you are tired because of their sleep pattern but try to get a routine down for yourself and stick to it. You will see in the end you will be feeling better. physical exercise, sunshine, getting out all help in getting rid of the depression as well as a little medicine might be necessary. avoid caffeine if at all possible. I know for myself I drink alot of green and white tea. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!!!

Eh, sorry but you people saying "well if you sleep x amount of hours that is too much!" have no idea what you're talking about.
First off, I'm sure we can all agree every body is different, and even someone with a healthy functioning body may need more or less sleep than the other person, that's just the way it is. Everyone on the planet is not programmed to need the exact same amount of sleep.
Secondly, if you do suspect you're a victim of this "too much sleep" thing, then bottom line is there's a REASON for it. "Too much sleep is bad!". No it's not. The REASON for having too much is BAD. You have something wrong with you that is causing you to sleep too much. Your body sleeps because of a reason. What is making it tired?
Get to the docs and find out.
But for the love of god, peolpe please stop this "OMG U R SLEEPING 2 MUCH U DONT NEED NO MORE THEN LIEK 8 HRS OF SLEP!1!!11"
Because how much sleep anyone needs is all relative.

having four little ones you are bound to be tired but getting too much sleep (anything over 10 hours) will make you more tired. trying getting out for a little while get a baby-sitter and go to a yoga class or dance class, exercising will help you get your energy back also eat lots of fruits and vegetables, try to avoid caffinated drinks and anything with a lot of sugar, they will give you a temporary energy boost but once the caffine/sugar wears off you will feel even more tired than before. something so small as taking your kids to the park and running around after them will help to boost your energy levels. and if changing your diet and exercise routines doesn't help than talk to your doctor, but that should be a last resort because all he's going to do is prescribe meds and most of the meds have the same effect as caffine/sugar. i hope all goes well for you.

don't let yourself sleep more than 10 hours MAX!!
anything more and you'll start getting more depressed.
try to get between 7-9 hours as that's about optimum.
I personally get 6-8 hours though 6 is the norm.
I used to sleep alot and I always felt tired and depressed, but now I fell alright and I think most of it is due to a better sleeping pattern.

feeling tired no matter how long you sleep is a classic symptom of depression...i know i have been there.you need to seek medical help. most likely you need to get active, as oversleeping will tend to make you feel as though you are wasting away your days and this will further depress you. speak to a doctor and keep family and friends close

You are sleeping more because either your body is repairing itself after giving birth or your sleep is not deep enough. Do yoga exercise to relax your mind and strength your body. It helps in getting over your depression.

More than 8 hours in one go. Try a bit of exercise to get your blood flowing and your energy levels up.

if you just had a baby, get as much sleep as you want or can. Your body needs to get back to normal and sleep may be what you need
