Character building of an individual by himself is prime motto. Then where character people unite, they share their ideas, work together. Already our Indian society do have Vivekananda School of Excellence, Rastriya Swayam sevan Sangh in all angles of society from childhood to oldage serving the society for this cause and on each field you have to become a volunteer. The present society is going for jobs, earning some money, fill their belly, quench their thirsty of all natural stigmas and what not. Everyone has become self-oriented and unity has gone Many small match boxes and the mind-sent had become selfish. If this ideas are wiped ou and the Nation is kept as a mental picture for worship and reverence / hope fee people with character grow in society and an expected development to certain percentage in the long run is possible. That being the reason Vivekananda - Stop not, awak, arise, go forward till you reach the Goal. Even RSS founder Dr.Hedgewar with five people in 1925 - showed a path of dedication and many character people withou selfish motive or goal working and making other works for society in all walks of our life. This is beginning of Ugadi.

As an Indian start within your self:
1. Ask questions:
a. Am I doing the best I can in what I am doing? or just doing mediocre work all the time because I am depressed / sad / lazy and tired? HOW can i do my best?
b. Am I demanding the best from every situation I am in?
-Is the shop keeper not providing good service? how can I get good service?
-Is the municipality cleaner not doing his / her job? but demands baksheesh on Diwali? How can I help them to understand their responsibility?
-Do I urinate in public (if you are a man?)????
-Do I tease women on the roads??
-Have I ever helped a poor Indian to find a life? (helped in studies, helped to setup a busines?
-What am I doing to improve communal harmony?
-Am I listening to the needs of my community? or am I driven by the greed that is within me to buy a house, car, save money, get TV - so that I can be equal in status to my relative, neighbor and friend?
I have lived in free India all my life.
In what ways have I exercised my freedom?
-Have I voted?
-Have I spoken against local gangs?
-Have I helped my neighbor?
-Have I done anything to fix the gaping hole in the middle of the road? -even once did i stand there with a board in my hand attracting attention so that the local govt covers the hole in the road?
-Am I scared of local politicians and goondas - that if I raise my voice they will rape the women in my family? - and so just minded my own business and moved on - always complaining and taking care of my needs alone?
So much. Start within oneself

Wow! Impressive, I commend you for your attempt to better the world. You could take your skills that you have and teach them how to do those. Carpenters, sewing, plumbers, electrical, computers, Dr., Nurse, any type of skill is always a great way to advance a society. It is wonderful to have a skill to fall back on so that you can make money. Get talented people to teach them. Good Luck!
