Hi , i started to drive in my early twenties and packed it because i struggled with driving manoeuvres i was ok with everything else and now in my early 40's i have restarted 6 months ago and picked up the basic driving again really well but as for driving manoeuvres its the same again . When coached through them i can do it fairly ok but can not remember each time the way the wheel goes ? I just cant get my head round it or remember from one lesson to the next the way the wheel goes for reversing round a corner , turning points , parking bay .
Is there any method of easy learning to remember these manoeuvres as this is really stressing me and i dont want to pack it all in ! I understand the manoeuvres and what to do just keep forgetting the streeing manoeuvre! I really dont want to have to pack it all in again . Any advice , cheers

It's the obvious answer ... but Practise is the key - The more you get out in a car learning these moves the more comfortable you're gonna be doing them. It's horrible when you're learning something new that just won't click into place but persevere my friend and have confidence in your abilities.
My nanna is still driving at 79 so i'm sure you can manage it.

the problem with reversing is that most people turn to face the rear window. this means that as far as the directions are concerned Left becomes right. The best way to practise is to reverse using the mirrors when the directions are as they would be when proceeding forward. Practise in an empty car park, if you can find one is always good as you can pick a spot that has no other vehicles in it. Once this is mastered try to convert to looking out of the back window, however you will probably find that apart from checking that nothing is in the way you will reverse perfectly satisfactorily with the mirrors.

When reversing, whichever direction the back of the car needs to go is the way you need to turn the wheel. (When facing forward) Obviously it's the same when you drive forwards, but with the front of the car.
Another way is when reversing, look at the back windscreen, now if you're facing the rear windscreen, forget left and right, but whichever way you need to go, when facing the windscreen, just turn the wheel towards the same direction.
Unfortunately i dont think it gets any simpler than that. Good luck!

I have been driving for years but I still get mixed up. Just turn the wheel and if the car is going the wrong way that you want...turn it the other way.

Relax first off.I was the same trying to remember how many times turn the wheel. What i did with my instructor was spoke about it and we came up with reference points on the car like on the body work or the window and lineing it up with something near by to help me with the position.Discuss this with your instructor and *** up with other ways to help you
Good luck

You have got to get this right or you will be a danger on the roads. If you can't give up.
Sorry to say that but it is a vital skill.
