stable atom bond is something like" when you eat- it comes out perfectly **** from your rear openings ..." get the picture?
it is so stable that you wouldn't guess where it actually came from ..

if it does not bond .. it comes out like you throw out. ... you can still see the ingridients ..

sorry for these answers but i'm trying to make it more visual to you ......

Chemistry, like all physical processes in the universe are driven by thermodynamics. The first is entropy - increasing and enthalpy - ever decreasing. Gibbs' law show that compunds bond to form more stable products but we can make unstable compounds also or there wouldn't be copmounds like Tri nitro toluene - TNT and oxidizers. The "advantages of being an element" are that if you - the element - have a full outer shell or full compliment of electrons you can be un-reactive and therfore forever pure. Take the noble gases - Helium, Neon etc. they don't react and are Pure in and of itself. Gosh life would be good if I were an element. But I'm a compound and have many reactions always going on with my different parts. I am a protein and catalyze reactions that make life possible and I am heavy - many times the weight of a simple atom of a noble gas.
Oh - such is life - the life of being a protein.
