Just under 1 million Brits now live permanantly in France, that is 1 in every 60 British actually left Britain to live permanantly in France. I would not say that is hating them. Yet people like rorit2005 says that she has not met anyone who likes the French. Well here's one who has watched French neighbours volunteer to help new English immigrants do repairs on their house etc. In the Dordogne (now known as Dordogneshire because over 90,000 Brits live in this small area) they translate French newspapers to English. I find them more helpfull and less arrogant than us Brits.
The trouble is that they have a different culture and we can't stand that and that is why we hate everybody (if you read these answers)
I think that the only people that hate the French are the uninformed and the stupid.
By the way we did not go into France during WW11 to save the French and actually were in the same possition in that we had to rely on help from the US to get us out of the Sh1t.
If geographically speaking we were wher France is, we too would have been overcome by Germany.
I read every day in these answers from Americans that they saved our sorry asses. Most of you sound just like them.
About going to war in Iraq, it turns out the French were right and we were stupid.
But, remember most people here did not want it either it was just Blair & Co. He would not have lasted 2 mins. in France.
Another thing, have a look at all the negative comments, then look at the points they earned this week. Some of them have 1700 this week alone. They are obviously benifit creeps that see forigners as people stealing benifits.
France has the best health system in the WORLD
The trains are good and run on time
The roads are good
The food is good
The wine is good
The girls have more sex appeal.
What is not to like
Go ahead give me a record number of thumbs down.
This is why the sensible people go to France and the trash go to English resorts in Spain.

I didn't know the Brits hated the French. I think they are a great people, very proud of their heritage, and their food for that matter. Try to understand their habits and communicate with them in French, however bad it is, and it will open up a whole new world. I live in Spain but willl be re-locating to France in the not too distant future. Many of my friends have already moved there. Spent most of my holidays in France and can't wait to get back. Ed.

I don't hate the French, I admire you a lot, for being yourselves, sticking to your own values and having the arrogance to honestly not care what the rest of the world thinks, and your right too.
And, I think when people go to a country and don't even ATTEMPT to speak the language they give the other person the right to be rude to them, and I have seen this happen many times in France, I know my own French is rubbish, but I do try, in the end the staff usually speak English to me, and its because I tried, (I think anyway)

Personally I don't hate the French,
I did visit France a few years ago & it seemed as soon as they heard my British accent they looked down there nose at me.
Of course there are some lovely French people so I wouldn't say I hate them because of one bad experience, but unfortunately I wouldn't be in a rush to visit France again.

who hates the French? Only the Americans, because the French had the guts to stand up for themselves and refuse to give in to America's bullying over Iraq.
It's ironic because now the most-hated race in the world are the Americans.

well, the french are generally very rude especially with foreigners and they are vey nationalist, just think that the 80 % of the music they can listen trough a radio in their country is french..also let's say is a political matter...in the last years..France totally disagree with the "American Way" how to deal with terrorism...useless wars..and paranoia.. and they decided to stay out of the problem and not to help the States because they were scare of the consequences and I can say now they were quite right...So the whole staff plus ancient prejudices brought people especially americans to hate them...Anyway that's my opinion...hope can give you a little help

I say it takes one to know one. English hate French because French hate English and so it goes on.
I don't care one way or the other because all Europeans are alike to me.
