When i opened a file in my laptop, i found that what was supposed to be a WORD DOCUMENT has turned out to be a virus! Its file ending changed from .doc to .scr. When i tried to open it, AVG anti virus system responded and detected a threat. Unfortunately, my laptop has no internet connection, so my norton, AVG, and clamwin anti-virus systems were totally disabled. Then, my files were continuously detected with virus, almost all of my files! Now, what would I do? How could I remove this virus and do my files will not be affected? I hope you can help me... :(

Firstly it is not good to have more than 1 anti-virus program, they can interrupt each other, I'd recommend staying with AVG and getting rid of the others.
Now Re-start the computer and as it starts rebooting begin tapping the F8 key. You will get a menu which allows you to select Safe mode with the arrow keys, do that. This will allow the computer to start without running the virus. Now do a virus scan of the whole computer. It should find it and rid the machine of it except it could still be tucked away in System Restore so you really need to switch of System resore (My Computer/properties/System restore and put a tick in the Turn off System restore box.
When you restart the machine you can turn System restore back on but you will have lost all your old restore points. The good news is you will also have lost the virus. Hope you've not lost too much data.

System restore may or may not help, its worth a try. Alot of times, the virus will go straight for the restore and disable it, but I would try anyway. If it does work, dont assume that the virus is gone, I would do a thorough check anyway. See if you can boot into safe mode, and try to run the anti-virus program(s), however, you wont be able to do an update, cause you cant access the internet in safe mode. Btw, do you have all three of those anti-viruses installed? It's not recommended to have more than one, cause they will conflict with each other. Plus I imagine they are slowing your computer down immensely. Just Norton alone will slow it down, I cant imagine all three. If all else fails, and if you know the name of the infected file, you can manually search for it and delete it. It may be several files, and it may take some looking, but it can be done if you have the time. If running the anti-virus in safe mode works, reboot into regular mode. If your internet then works, immediately do an update, and run it again in regular mode. Hope this helps!! Good luck.

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IF U HAVE XP IS "SYSTEM RESTORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Before you do anything too deep, use system restore to restore your computer to how it was last week or sometime before you got the virus. To get to this, click click start, help and support, system restore.
If the virus wont let u do that, there is still hope. If you know the name of the virus, You can look it up on the internet and download specific toold for that particular virus.
