When this happen to me I could not shut down my laptop so I just let the battery run out over night. In the morning the touch pad was working again.

After that the courser started acting kinda funny. It would work sometimes, and other thimes I had to hit it a little, so I just invested in a regular wierless mouse. Its the best. I sugest you do the same. Good luck.
