i think,it is a silly movie.
Iran can introduce to world by cyrus the great and films like this can not terminate glorious persian history.

I thought it was an excellent film.
Did we get thrown back in a time machine to the 4th century BCE without being told about it? Persians are not around today and have not been for many centuries. Therefore it's impossible for them to get upset. It's not intended as an insult to Iranians either, and they were not around back then so there is no reason why they should be upset either. But it's human nature, isn't it, to get insulted over things that have no intention of such.
If you want to make your own version glorifying the Persians and making the Spartans out to the be bad guys, the director did give people permission. I personally loved the film and while I was educated on the story through the film, first and foremost, I was entertained which is why I went. Most people realize that films are not 100% accurate, nor are they ever intended to be. So it's a waste of time and energy getting upset over it.

Agreed, I don't know why anybody would take offense to a movie based on a true historical event, not that every scene in the movie was what really happened. This isn't the first movie about the 300 spartans who took on Persia. Check out The 300 Spartans, it's from 1962.

300 was a allright movie. i saw a documentary about that battle and although the movie left out some things and made some things up like ogres and things i dont find it neccesary to say its insulting to persians. the fact is that the persians conquered many land and had many slaves (like most other nations and countries) and their emperor/ wanna be god was not a good man. no one was back then.
i give that movie a B.

As the Persian empire no longer exists, it would be somewhat hard to offend one. Besides, all this clout about it being anti-persian is a load of crap. The movie was based on a graphic novel (pretty much a comic book). Great movie, so stop complaining.

No, I do not think that the movie is an insult to Persians. They wanted to expand their empire so they had to be cruel and hard in other words make war. I think that Iran (today's name for Persia) and its people must reconcile with their history and their ancestors

it was about a great victory which was bloody and very savage, it wasn't an insult to the Persians but it just goes to show you if you take too much someone is gonna step in and stop you from taking it all

this movie was absolutely SICK. Instant classic, I loved it. It wasn't historically accurate but it wouldn't of been as good if it was. they decided to follow a comic book rendition of the battle of thermopylae. I went and seen the very first showing on friday the morning it opened, and will go see it again.
