Gavasker's views are not acceptable. Still he is trying to be a hero in cricket world.

There can be little doubt for anybody about the charges of Sunny about the Aussies, as they are known for their unruly behavior on the field, which has gone unnoticed by almost all the umpires for years together. So one can not but endorse the views of Gavaskar. The fact that Ponting has reacted angrily to Gavaskar adds a new twist to the ongoing verbal duel ! One fervently hopes that Gavaskar does not let go the situation from bad to worse by further remarks on 'sledging' !

More than the Cricket World Cup news, the sports pages are heavily debating about Gavaskers comments, Pontings reply and again Gavaskars remarks.
Gavaskar is right in saying Australians outside the cricket ground will be bashed/hitted out if they behave in same fashion. Ponting may be remembering the hit he got from a girls brother after what he did to that girl in a discotheque at Kolkata.
Ponting should also remember that, it is not the time for him to think of replying to gavaskars comments, but concentrate on cricket.

Picking on the Aussies for sledging...gee playing cricket against some of you must be a boring game...cricket is more about mental strength....
when South Africa dropped S Waugh he came out with a ripper...saying to the SA who dropped it " you just dropped the World Cup" and he was right...but those sort of comments are not malicious they are intended to make the opponent think about it....the Australian cricket at all levels Sledges..it is what embeds a strong will to us...when we were getting flogged by everyone with Kim Hughes and then Border at the helm ...it was pure grit and fighting spirit that got us through the tough times...cant say the same about so many other teams out there.....I play a good level of cricket here in oz and winning teams always have something to say...losing teams must try to speak with actions....by winning...if they fail..they whinge....come on guys get off the band wagon and lets talk about something else...remember when a WAR (WCC is a battlefield - look at the Pakistani's) the first victim is TRUTH....media have to build up the Cup some how...

As far as I know Ponting never abused. Australians today r more educated & civilized than they used to be a quarter century ago what Gavaskar is talking about. Problem is that Gavaskar is trying to match past experience with the present one of Team India. Situations & cricket rules today r highly improved a lot. Now no indiscipline, no abusive culture of 2 - 3 decades back is going to be tolerated even in minute trace, rest assured , disciplined players, please. Exceptions like Warne(retired) may exist in small no. but they cannot go along too far. Ponting is highly professional man so, he cannot be distracted from his goal by such sledgings of Gavaskar or Ganguly. It is a matter of sorrow that a hero of the stature of GREAT GAVASKAR is going so cheap harping the past which is as dead as history. We should not be hostage of the past & look for bright future for which maximum effort is to be done. This is not only for cricket rather everything.

Gavaskar will not loose anything by Allan Border not being his friend.
Gavaskar is very clever. Now Australians will be kept in check. They cannot openly use their abusive, intimidatory techniques on the feild as they have been 'mentally disintegrated' (if that is the term used by aussies for sledging an opponent) by Gavaskar.

Gavaskar was absolutely right. However good they are at the game they are more popular for their on-field arrogance and sledging. They may be the champions but they are not the most popular team in cricket
