He is saying that you are "mean" or "embarrassed". It is very rude on his part.

Calling someone "cheap" usually means that they're unwilling to spend very much money; it's usually not a compliment. Unless you're simply really good at finding a bargain, I'd say he either meant it as an insult, or possibly had no clue what he was saying. Either way, I'd discuss it with him.

It's a friendly complaint. On one side he's actually saying that you are too stingy with your money. But on the other side, being your friend, he doesn't really mind about it.

However, it's a sign you need to pay attention to. Maybe you ARE too stingy. Doesn't mean that being careful with your money is wrong. But if you find yourself pocketing toothpicks from the diner just to save the money to buy them, then you are way too stingy.

They mean that you don't like spending a lot of money on anything, or in the case of tips (pizza hut/restaurants etcetera) you place as small an amount as possible.

By friendship view, you don't place too much importance on any of your friends and though I hate using Australian slang, the word "stingy" fits in more than cheap.

Relationship standpoint: He's not interested in you being his gf. By calling you cheap (derogatory), he has firmly established the friendship relationship.

Literally meaning: The other ppl has got the rite idea. You've obviously done something that is viewed as 2 "tight" by him.

it means that you don't spend money, or, you are always checking prices of things and worrying about what you can and cannot afford. Your friend is dumb, there is nothing wrong with being worried about where your money goes, as long as you are happy with life.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out your friend is using the phrase in the wrong context either.

It means that he is telling you that either you dont like to share something or you dont like to spend your money. Or that they are saying something about the clothing your wearing like it is not a brand name or something like that. But if that is your friend they should not talk to you like that. Maybe new time to find new friend that can like you for you.

It sounds like he's saying you're frugal.
It means careful about how you spend your money.

not knowing the full story, I would think he means, you dont like to spend a lot of money, or at all.

It usually means that you are a tightwad or a skinflint. That you pinch pennies so tightly, they bleed.
