What word came first? Orange.. The fruit or the color?

What do you think is right because I'm not sure. LOL I'm confused.

may be because the fruit was of same colour so they would have chosen that name

The word Orange (color) came first of course. Everyone will try to tell you the fruit came first. But if you really think about it. That very first orange was named by a human. Before that first orange, they are just "that fruit". If someone grab what is nowaday banana back then and said "let's call this ORANGE." The world will be different now.

well, the fruit was there before people were speaking, so, in that way, you moght say the fruit, however, when people started naming things, who knows what came first... my guess is the word, then the fruit - or vice versa - so, I am useless on the subject and still managed to give a different slant to the issue
