What exactly is the point of meditation ? How do you do it ? Is it just concentrating on being still .. no thoughts... just your body and mind being idle .. so you can find a greater focus in your mind ?

meditation means putting your mind to complete peace.. in the morning light a candle and sitting at some distance try to focus on the candle... try you focus on the flame and imagine its coming towards you.. and it enters right to your mind and it goes to your heart..then to every part of your body.. and imagine that your whole body has lighted up with that flame..

The common thread of most, if not all meditation, is inner peace or enlightenment (depending on the terminology you want to use).

How one practice meditation depends on what kind of meditation you learn. Some meditation focuses on a word, a sound, color, or focusing on something (like a candle).

The point of meditation is relaxation, and possibly self-healing or self-examination. Everyone accomplishes this in their own way. For some, being alone outdoors is useful; for others, music or scents facilitate meditation. I suggest finding someone who can guide you in the beginning; in time, you will no longer need assistance.
