So my question is...is it legal to sale yourself to the public in the phone book etc. as long as I advertise that I am a UPI instead of a PI....Please only real answers please. Im wanting to do a side job. I have 6 kids.

OK once you learn how to spell infidelity, maybe people will hire you to do detective work.

You could do this for a licensed PI under their umbrella license, but I can't be sure if you can do it legally in your state being unlicensed. Also, the thought occurs that your department might have issues with this being a conflict of interest until you qualify for the PI license. At any rate, good luck.

Knowing the licencing procedure and having a pacific licence to cover your self through liabilty insure as i applyed have a security licence but changed my mind as the legalties of law regarding restraint as powers of arrest are really in the hands the police and not worth being stabbed with a needle or face smashed in by adrug addict or aids infected junkie.A security offer who work at a immagration centre in australia was constatly attacked and watch people lay on barbed wire.So be properly licenced to stop legal issue's as a for payment you work .

As with most issues, it depends on the state.

Some states require PIs to be licensed. Some don't.
