Aren't they really advocating a policy of appeasment? In other words: don't kill the terrorists.

And by wrapping themselves up in the flag, the protestors portray anyone who has a dissenting view as a "traitor".

Those Americans who favor going the offensive against our enemies before they kill us are shouted down as "disloyal".

The irony in all of this is too thick.

Just to point out, there were no terrorists in Iraq when the US chose to invade. That was not the reason given for the invasion. The terrorists were all hiding out in Afgahnastan and Pakistan. Why not invade Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan? We all know that there are terrorists there.

Respecting the Constitution is Patriotic. Recognizing that a duly elected Congress is entitled to do its job according to federal law, even if you don't like what they're doing, is Patriotic.

Trying to silence anyone who disagrees with you is not.

It really doesn't matter what the issue is: peace, war, reconstruction, troop levels, time-tables. Either you allow people to express their opinion, and allow Congress to do their job, or you deny what the Constitution requires.

The terms "traitor" and "disloyal" are thrown around like confetti -- bright, attracts a lot of attention, and pretty much utterly meaningless in the vast majority of cases where used. Especially if the meaning is just "anyone who disagrees with me".

While probably every true American wants peace......it is not free in this world unfortunately. I am realizing that most people who are so staunchly apposed to the wars in the middle east are in denial. There is a common state of mind among the left that we are always going to be OK, and never in danger. I think this is a result of this generation being spoiled in a sense. The greatest generation, WW2 families who gave America a very prominent role in the world, essentially they made America the super power that it is, had to fight extremely hard and endured huge sacrifices for this country. Everything from modernization to our democratic freedoms that we still enjoy is due to them. However, many of the children and subsequently some of their children as well were born into a country that was stable, secure, we were untouchable is essence. This feeling of complete security, is what gives these protesters the need to say no war. But what they don't understand, that we have to keep our enemies at bay and in check to keep our place in the world, for our freedom, and for our safety and for our grandchildren's sake.

Because it is. Not everyone is a total Psycho like you. Maybe they want the USA to have a higher standing in International Opinion. Let's face it, at the moment the USA is viewed as scum outside the USA because of their oppressive foreign policies. Closer to home you have a President who couldn't even be bothered, until hassled, to visit the aftermath of the New Orleans disaster, and only then did he do it by helicopter. I don't think peace protestors are being anti American, if anythingthey are more PRO USA than you for the very reasons I mentioned.

You cannot label this form of protest anti-American when the very foundation of this country was built by protests such as the Boston Tea Party and by famous protesters such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and many others. To protest the war is not to be "anti-American" its ironically in accord to the very purpose of democracy.

Send in war planes, soldiers, tanks and kill a thousand terrorists, kill a million, but you have not killed the idea behind their actions. This idea is not restricted to the individuals body, it can be described as a wildfire it will engulf anyone who crosses its path, it will then spread from the individual to his friends and family. An idea cannot be killed, it cannot be shot, bombed, stabbed it is more powerful then an army of millions. To win this war we must make a radical change in our tactics.

Go ahead keep sending more soldiers in, the terrorists will remain dormant for a while, the American people will shout victory and years from today we will have another terror attack why? because we did not kill the idea.

Killing, bombing, war is always a quick solution but never an invite for discussion. What if Bush was to simply speak to Bin Laden sounds funny right of course it does its because you have already made up your mind and concluded that it would not be feasible, but ironically no precedent exits to dictate your conclusion.

I think they are representing a people who understand that they are not only going to war but Americans are actually writting their history. The history will be visited by others thereafter.

They do not want to be blamed for the reason of going to war because of non existence Weapon of Mass Destruction and the chief of the terrorist as they blamed was killed in Tora Bora bombing using the WMD (Daisy Cutter).

Thumbs up for them. Longlive to USA!!

people who protest government strikes with which they disagree are no longer being anti-American by employing the act of protest. in the event that they're violent, in the event that they're inciting violence, or in the event that they're intentionally spreading fake techniques, then they're appearing against the hobbies of the rustic. i do no longer think of the healthcare protesters are intentionally spreading disinformation -- that's the pundits interior the only right suited-wing media, as nicely as some irresponsible politicians like Sarah Palin, who're spreading the disinformation understanding that it fairly is fake. enable them to protest. it ought to undermine substantial legislations, yet a vocal opposition is a healthful situation, IMNSHO.

Being an American and having an opinion one way or the other is being patriotic. You see, here in America, we have this thing called freedom of speech. Now, you don't necessarily have to agree with it, but, you certainly can't start telling people what and what not to say.

This crap about "libs hating America," is completely bogus.

man, you know that saying appeasement is way out of context so its a stupid thing to say.

It is an illegal war. is that what america is about? illegal wars?
it was started based on lies. The war would not have ever been started without the wmd's lie. Not just bad intelligence. read the downing street memo, or did you forget about that? maybe in actuality, it doesn't exist and i made it up. Or maybe it makes no difference to you, you just like america going to war because you like the idea. It makes you feel powerful.

"going on the offense against our enemies before they kill us" or "pre-emptive action" is unconstitutional. That means it would be illegal to go to a war to prevent them from "killing us" (uh how would they do that again?) Whats the constitution again? oh yeah its that thing that keeps america a free nation.

A traitor is someone who betrays their country, not someone who hates the policies of the president's administration. You can hate the president and be more american than people who like the president. Especially if that president's last name is bush or clinton.

a traitor would be selling out the country, like kinda like bush is selling out the united states to North American Union, a merging of canada, mexico, and us. that will threaten our sovereignty, and make drug trade rampant.

a traitor to me is someone that is like bush or likes bush.

I am having trouble with "anti-american" and "patriotic" being used in the same sentence to describe these guys. Who really cares what these idiots think? Not to be rude, but they are so ridiculous that it hardly seems worthwhile to give them any more free press. What has any tree huggin, Cheeba smokin, flag burning moron ever done for this country besides flap their lips about absolutely nothing? If we want to get some patriotism from these idiots, we should convert the poppy crops to pot farms and send them over to Afghanistan for some "enlightenment".
