I am sick of terrible TV commentators who don't even pay attention to the game, but rather spend their time telling "heart warming stories." For the most part, it seems like Radio commentators dominate them since they are forced to do actually play by play.

I agree that most are horrible. Can't stand to listen to my club's announcer's, George Grande and Chris Welch of the Reds. However, I do have the perfect substitute in Marty and Joe on the radio. Doesn't get any better than those two.
I will say that I do enjoy watching the Dodgers broadcast simply because of Vin Scully. Does it all by himself. He's the best, and it's not even close.

We have the best here in LA as far as local broadcasters. Vin Scully is the best in the biz. It seems he has a story for every player, and he calls a game as if he describing it to a friend. I'm not a Dodger fan, but listening to him call a game makes the Dodgers bearable. By the way he does simulcasts, meaning both Radio and TV, just like how legendary Chick Hearn used to do for the Lakers.

It depends on the team, really. I watch a bunch of different broadcasters (I get the Extra Innings pack) and the variation is wide. A few teams have good TV teams (the Pirates are good most of the time, as are the Reds), and others are abysmal (the Cubs, who seem to require idiocy amongst their commentators; and any game broadcast by ESPN). I think the TV guys sometimes assume you can see what's going on and thus don't have to cover everything themselves.

Would you prefer silence to fill the gaps between plays? I know commentators differ greatly between teams/cities, so maybe it just depends on the commentators in your area. I remember my great grandpa use to watch the games on mute and listen to the radio just because he liked the commentators there better. The commentators I listen to when I watch my teams game do do play by play (though less descriptive). Either way you cut it I love baseball, so I watch the game even if the commentators can be slightly annoying.

The problem is that in watching your favorite team, you grow to enjoy the commentators. I love Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy for the Red Sox games. They are fun and full of life. Being national, we get the Braves games on TBS here in Connecticut, and those guys are so boring and monotone, it must drive the fans crazy.
I don't mind Buck and McCarver at all. It's just that being a die hard fan, they'll tell you things that make no sense...they don't do enough homework.
I like Joe Morgan, but his partner (his name escapes me) drives me nuts for one reason. He's as white as a ghost, but when a player of latino decent comes up to the plate, he always tries to put a spanish spin on the name, and 99% of the time he botches it.
Radio announcers are fantastic. They should be given all kinds of credit. That's a dream job for me...

Anthony there is far worse to listen to. Like Joe Buck who has no clue what game is being played or like Joe Morgan who can't get over himself or the Big Red Machine.
II have to disagree with you about the ladies. Theres a few in here who can challenge any guy anyday.

Joe Buck's voice is like velvet mixed with peanut butter (swing and a miss). Seriously though...some do a good job, provide thoughtful insight, and make the game more interesting. Joe Morgan, IMHO, is the best in the biz.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver have to be the worst. One is a yankees fan and the other is a cards fan. Imagen watching the 2004 world series.

honestly, if I walked through a crowd of people filled people to ever be associated with mariners, behind the scenes, I could point out one... DAVE NEIHAUS, such a great guy they let him throw out the first ever pitch at Safeco, he's giving every year its special little touch with a key phrase...my oh my, and so on... look man, baseball is one of the slowest games to watch, It's my life, but I admit its hard to stay on one game the whole time without flipping channels, or putting it on PIP int he corner of the screen, so between all the plays, they need to talk strategy, talk history, and news...atleast they dont cover all the same crap that espn covers day in and day out... atleast mariners games they have players explaining why you would walk someone in this scenario, why the balk was called, a time in history when this happened, fun trivia about baseball... you not only learn ****, but u also get stuff to talk about with ur family, or friends... plus lil kids who watch games learn things every game...thats why they talk so much...
