Meeting my husband. getting to know him and a better me through him, our wedding, great trips around the world together, birth of our son and watching him grow...

Hilarious times with my mom and sisters... impulse weekend to NY, then extended the trip to DC, fun times in Hawaii and Cancun, being together at family events and having each other to talk to as we grew...

Great career, learned from amazing people, saw so much, traveled, interesting experiences... switching gears from all of that to be a stay-at-home mom, the best and hardest job yet!

Funny that all of the things that come to mind have only to do with places I have been and the people I have been with.... I don't think there is anything more importnat than family and firends, or more worthwhile than traveling and seeing / experiencing as much of the world as possible -- life is too short for anything else :) Great question!

In my life? Good Lord, I could go on for days. I guess these were the best:

1. School-Growing up,I had a good time, maybe too good of a time.

2. Sports-in high school, I was on the swim team and football team and had a lot of good memories with that.

3. Girls-dated A LOT of them. Had a good time with most of them and really liked one or two of them.

4. College-had a really good time in college, maybe too good of a time. Did a lot of crazy stuff and made some good friends, met my wife. I was as poor as a church mouse but still had a good time.

5. The Army-went in after college, holy cow, it was hard and at times not fun but it made me a better man and there were some funny times too.

6. Getting married-my wife and I had dated almost 7 years and had gone through some good and not so good times together. I can honestly say we truly knew each other by the time we got married after I got out of the Army.

7. Some of my jobs-interesting would be an understatement. I've gotten to travel a good bit and have met some really bright, funny and interesting people over the years and done some crazy and at times appalling stuff (nothing illegal).

8. My kids-my son is now 16 and my daughter is 14, both in high school. While they're not perfect, they're good kids and have been a lot of fun to watch grow up.

Those are the things off the top of my head. My life has not been perfect and I have seen some bad times but overall, it's been good so far. I consider myself fortunate, I know some are not nearly as fortunate and I thank God every day for my family and that we're all healthy.

Having a long childhood, a safe home and a good family life.

Having a marriage which ended after 32 years. Although, it makes me sad, I can still reminsce over the good times.

Having my only child, a daughter. Seeing her learn through homeschooling grades 1 thru 9 and then going on to be an honor student the rest of the way through her Master's degree in Psychology. Seeing her persevere through the divorce of her parent's. Seeing her have wonderful friends and a wonderful boyfriend.

Having my elderly parents to take care of.

Having my Jesus since age 8. Knowing all will be just fine no matter what, when my life ends on this side.

Knowing that my life goes on. Knowing that this is vapor and the next is the real McCoy. The real joy and living begins soon for me.

I think one of the best things I have ever gone through is my rough teen aged years. It may sound odd, but I honestly believe that if I had not been such a bad teenager then I don't think my mother and I would be as close now. I think that because of what I went through it made me see what a mother's love really is. She never gave up on me and now she is my very best friend. It has also made me appreciate life a little more. I'm sure she hated those years from 14 till 19, but she knows that I am a better person for what I went through and she is proud of the mother I have become and I owe that to her.

The best part of my life is that all the crap I went through in middle and high school gave me a better understanding of myself. I went through my goth stage quite early, and I'm thankful for that.
I'm grateful I was diagnosed for an anemia-induced depression that was easily treated with iron therapy. It gave me greater empathy for other people and their woes.
I'm glad I have a relationship with God that, even though most people view it as unconventional, I feel I know what He wants me to do with life and I've found my true calling (even though it's secular charity work)

Growing up in Europe, moving to the US, joining the Army, meeting my husband, being stationed in Germany are just some of the good things. I regret very few things i've done. I think the best thing that happened to me was having the chance to live and experience everything for myself.
