The stuff you use in dish washing machines is too caustic. Not only will you damage your skin, you will damage the car, particularly the paint. A small squirt of the liquid you use for hand washing dishes is good. I usually use no detergent at all, just plain water.

Wash under the fenders/mudguards with a firm but not extreme flow of water from a garden hose to remove mud and prevent or reduce corrosion. Then run the hose over the car (windows up) to remove loose dust. Then use your weak detergent solution. This will remove wax after two or three washes and it may be better to use a car detergent which is formulated not to remove wax so quickly. (That is, if you have your car waxed. I don't. ) Rinse the detergent soln. off with the hose and dry with a chamois, starting from the top.

There is a difference between dish washer soap and diswashing liquid. The liquid is fine, I've used it for decades to wash my cars. I try and keep a good coat of wax on my cars also.

Never. It will bring off the wax and dull the paint and clear coat finish. Use car soap and for best results wash by hose and bucket using a sheep wool mitt and the two bucket wash method. (one soap&water, one clean water for mitt rince) Its the best method for avoiding swirl mark surface scratches in your paintwork

No, dishwasher soup contains granules that may well scratch your paint job. Use regular dish soap and rinse well. You car will be lemony fresh ;)

Sure it is.

Just don't use the kind made to go in the AUTOMATIC DISHWASHER.

That kind has bleach in it and it will harm your cars finish.

Good luck....
