I used to think of Leo as the Titanic boy and I know sometimes he gets a bad wrap but I started to notice after catch me if you can he is really a good actor. Then came The departed and Blood Diamond, he should have oscars for both. What are your thoughts?

Yes

He was awesome in his movie debut What's Eating Gilbert Grape with Johnny Depp.

He was passable in the Titanic but it made his name.

His next movie The Man in the Iron Mask showed him to be such a lightweight when cast with really excellent actors.

A few movies later he began to turn around. I have seen him in appearances talking about a myriad of topics and he has murtured greatly. He appears to be a solid young man with a lot to accomplish and is doing it. Nice energy. He has been good in quite a few movies and now he is getting rave reviews for serious movies that have the power to effect change.

So yeah. I think he is. However, it will come when it will come. In the meantime, he seemed to be ok about it and that is what counts. Think.. if he was that good in Blood Diamonds and did not get the award... think of what that will push him to do to make the grade! He has the makings for sure.

Very well observed. He is really good in Catch Me If You Can. But I think he stole the limelight after having been picked up by Scorsese in Gangs of New York proceeded by Aviator and The Departed; he is amazing in the last two. Blood Diamond is a feather in the cap despite an Oscar. I am really glad that he opted out of The Good Shepherd opting The Departed, the role that went to Matt Damon, which was neither good as a movie nor with the character he was to play. He's certainly one of the best.

DiCaprio actually really became famous with his 1993 movie, This boy's life with Robert de Niro. Thats when he got out and was noticed. "What eating Gilbert's Grape?" came after "This boy's life".

Titanic was just the big HIT movie, with the love story (actually more about the movie than the love story).
If he was to get an award, Blood Diamond was the one to get it. The Departed is good, but Blood Diamond relates to true events, which do need to be brought to light.
He still has his "youth" appeal to him, but its starting to fade. In a positive way. He will start to get more audacious roles then.

While I have not seen Blood Diamond or the Departed, I think he's a good actor who has improved with time. He can pull off roles believeably that other actors couldn't. But some people will always view him as the Titanic kid.

Leo is just one of those actors that gets slack because of his good looks like Bratt Pitt. He is in his own right good and if you doubt that then watch the Aviator. But let us not rule out the winner of best actor who is Forrest Whitaker. For years he has only been in supporting roles and with the Last King of Scotland he deserved it. So hard luck for Leo, he had tough contenders this time around so don't worry he will eventually get another Oscar soon, he is that good an actor.

Good actor, ever since Basketball Diaries and Gilbert Grape. Most everything he's done since Titanic (which was crud), he's excelled in, including The Aviator, Gangs of New York and The Departed.

I think he was a very good teenage actor, while I havent seen either blood diamond or the departed he has not done anything worth a crap, (yes I hatted titanic) as an adult. Every movie that he has done as an adult, he plays a winey, snot nose, punk. It is kinda like Courney Love always playing a strung out junky, it isn't much of a strech as an actor since she and he are what they play.

He still looks like a little boy, too young to play the parts in Blood diamond

He does not. He based the DiCaprio foundation, an environmental team. He additionally contributes to many different charitable motives. yet wait--i presumed you adult men have been all approximately wealthy people having the ability to maintain as plenty of their money as they needed? And re "minimum salary" on a action picture set: the backside-paid person on a SAG set is a non-union action picture extra, and that they are making $ninety/day plus beyond customary time, that's extra effective than minimum salary. The union action picture extras (who're employed first) make approximately $a hundred and fifty/day plus beyond customary time.
