Because your comfortable at work, which allows you to perform and communicate effectively. Personally I love not having a dress code. I work in a Union job and we can wear sandals and shorts if we want too and the pay and benefits are great!

That is never a good idea, to have no dress code! Would you want to call the police and someone show up at your door, unclean, dirty pants, unshaven telling you should open the door because they are the police?
Do you want to get on an air-plane and the one flying the plane looks like he has been out all night, "I like to Rock" on his T-Shirt and painted on tight jeans?
Too, as you can see from just walking down the streets, many of the females would come to work with their butt and breast out as well as the males looking like the slept in the trash can.
That does not make for a good view to customers, business moral or work atmosphere!

i think it depends on the type of job, but for the most part i think it's NOT good actually. you'll get people dressing in a very unprofessional way (whether it be slutty or sloppy) and just isn't a good impression to give off at a business.

It allows for personal interpretation. It would work well for operations which are informal, have no customers to satisfy, or something along that line.
