It's just entertainment. If you're not entertained don't watch it. Unfortunately, there are many people that are amused by Simon and agree with his opinions. Then there's the fool who knows how rude Simon is yet puts themself in the position to be humiliated on national television. It's the way of the world. Simon's the big shot in the chair and the rest of us are the little monkeys jumping through hoops trying to get a little something for ourselves. In some way, shape, or form, we're all getting dumped on the way Simon dumps on the contestants. I think that's why we laugh, we get to see someone else getting raked over the coals the way we get dragged over them in our lives. On the other hand, most of us can't relate to the people fighting for idealistic causes because we're too busy fighting for our own survival to be philanthropists. One we can relate to, the other we can't.

He's not always callous, just a majority of the time. He's been in the industry for some time. He knows America has it's head up its *** (why Sanjaya would be still in contention is beyond any reasonable person). As far as I'm concerned, he's the best judge (and most comical).

Wish i knew the answer, all i can say is i do boycott him:) it seems like the more mean nasty and horrible a person is the more money they make-go figure!!huh??
I mean he is just plain rude in a way he does not have to be, and hell he is not even good looking-not that that would make being rude exceptable but it would explain why maybe he thought he cn get away with being so nasty---then again he probablythinks he is good looking-ha aha ha

Without Simon Cowell, the Show " American Idol" is over. His nastiness gets your attention, so people watch, waiting for what he will going to say next.

It seems rudeness attracts now-a-days. American Idol, Judge Judy, The Weakest Link ... and the list goes on. Why, is beyond me. I get sooo angry when people are rude/callous. :(

simon is in the business of production of a 'product'...happens to be entertainers. as a business man he looks at the product with less emotion say as someone who is looking at shoes for manufacture...dont like this on that design, this is no good, etc. unfortunately for him, his 'product' has emotion and feelings and talks back and reacts...shoes dont. peace

People are entertained by his kind. Good causes -- while far more important -- are simply not amusing.
