It really depends on the situation. You have to stand behind your spouse on certain situations. If you have children that are defiant, and unruly then I would say spouse. If you have alright children, but need some alone time with your spouse then I say spouse. You have to determine when to put him first. You can't always put the kids first, your marriage won't last.

It all depends on what exactly you mean. But I'll give you my two cents:

The spouse is more important than your children.
Why?
Because if you maintain the chemistry and attetntion with your spouse, children will learn what they see - love, tenderness, gentleness, kisses, laugh, pampering, a flirty look, you name it.

If you were to put your children first, your children will learn from you that some people, no matter how close to you, don't get your full attention.

Let your children see the beauty of love through you.

This is a tough one. When my children were young their needs came first with both my husband and I. We knew that when they were grown we would have more time to ourselves. As a mother I naturally always put myself last. At the dinner table the children were served first then the husband and lastly myself. When it came to the remote control for the television it was a whole other order. For some reason the man always has it glued to his hand. ha ha

I would have to say my spouse if he is the father of my children. Unless he is harming my children then I believe it is natural for the mother instinct to kick in and take the childrens side. The kids will grow up and move away but your spouse is suppose to be there until death does you part.

I'm not married, but from what I understand of the Bible you and your spouse are supposed to be one, so I wouldnt be able but to technically put my spouse first. But our just first interest shoud be God, then our children. So it seems like everyones a winner here...

I believe the harmony of a home would be balanced if you put your spouse FIRST, thus you will set a good example for the children as being romantic, loving parents, even after all these years of marriage.
