I am addicted to caffiene. I am so addicted that no amount seems to affect me anymore. I drink coffee, energy drinks or soda constantly when I'm awake, really. I work 3rd shift, but that really has nothing to do with my intake. I just started that shift. I've adjusted pretty well. But I take stacker type pills on top of energy drinks and coffee but I feel that it has no effect on me. I quit smoking over a year ago, but I just refuse to give up caffiene. I am seriously addicted. I dont drink alcohol or have any other negative vice. I love anything with caffiene in it. I can drink caffiene up until i go to bed and fall asleep just fine. This has been on going for YEARS. I'm 29 and pretty darn healthy, I go to the gym and try to eat healthy. I guess what I'm asking is, is too much caffiene really bad for you, or just sort of bad, or not bad at all? What are the long term effects? Thanks.

Caffeine is a stimulant and raises your heart rate. It is possible to give yourself a heart attack if you have a large amount of caffeine and then do very hard exercise. Some people die from having too much caffeine. I suppose you've developed a tolerance to it, but just be careful not to overwork your heart.

Just recently, on TV, I saw a doctor's discussion on drinking to much coffee. They said 4 cups a day was to much so you are way overboard. Research shows it is very bad for your heart. I'm amazed you can fall asleep with all that caffeine in your body. The thing is that what you put in your body when you are young may not have the negative effects until you get a little older. Try watering it down or cutting back. I actually don't know if coffee has more caffeine then sodas. Anybody out there know?

Caffeine is a drug that has been studied in many different ways. However, most findings are inconclusive/inconsistent. The major long term effects of too much caffeine include stomach problems (with the increased production of stomach acid due to caffeine) and anxiety disorders.
I would try to cut down on caffeine, if not from a health standpoint, from more of a philosophical standpoint. Caffeine is a drug that alters your mood and cognitive ability. Like most other drugs, there is a rebound effect when you stop using it. This causes you to become in essence, a slave to the drug.
Also, taking so much caffeine in at one time may cause a heart attack. This however depends on many factors including your age, health, and caffeine tolerance. I would suggest cutting down on your caffeine use, and at the very least, if you're drinking those energy drinks, choose the ones without the sugar. I cannot believe how many people, mostly kids, drink 2-3 cans a day of the sugary energy drinks. That's over 200g of sugar from that alone. They do not understand the harm that they are doing their bodies.

Yes, I think 10 mg of caffeine is lethal.
But, as for day-to-day use... well, you sure can get addicted. You'll be in an uncomfortable situation if you ever get stuck somewhere without your caffeine (withdrawal - yikes). You'll also need a lot more caffeine than most people to feel the effects.
I haven't heard anything about long-term caffeine use being bad for you... BUT, too much coffee sure can be! My dad had to go the hospital back in the 80s because he was living in Sweden and loved the Swedish coffee so much - coffee's got acids in it, and it rotted his stomach. So.... watch out for that. If you're having stomach problems, that might be something to check in with your doctor about, and then deal with your intake accordingly.
I am soooo addicted too. NoDoz....
Oh, well - I have noticed, too much caffeine, especially on an empty stomach, can be pretty awful. I try to keep it under 400 mgs or I get sick.

Actually coffe is a very good anti-oxidant of the body. It helps in taking out harmful things in our body that is brought by too much work, eating unhealthy foods and other life-style that causes alike. But " TOO MUCH OF GOOD THINGS MAY LEAD TO BAD CONDITION".. I will not advice you but I will counsel you. Please try dringking less caffiene or if you can't help it try drinking a decafenated caffiene, this is the kind of coffee that my beloved father is drinking. Because my father was one of the victims of caffiene addiction. Fortunately, he recovered and he is different the way he was before. Don't you know that drinking coffee without eating breakfast can contribute to the appearance of the sickness in mentality. This is all I know so far. Good Luck
God Bless.

well, you are young after all at 29. not sure what 'stacker pill' is by the way. but, caffeine is a stimulant and it also will dehydrate you....probably why you feel a need to drink drink drink it. one cup of regular coffee intake of liquid...usually means two cups of liquid output...in any form, urination or perspiration. so you can drink too much: dehydration and over stimulation of the nervous system. dehydration will cause problems with all sorts of bodily functions. peace

I haven't read anything that says too much caffeine is bad for you.
You say you love caffeine but you don't feel its effect. If you don't feel the effect, then why do you feel the need to consume so much of it?

i hope i'm remembering this right, but a starbucks barista told me that it is illegal for starbucks to sell more than 12 shots of espresso to one person in one day because of caffeine overdose.
i don't know if that helps at all, but just know your limit for caffeine...you don't want to OD on it.
