I recently quit a really crappy job, and I'm going to be looking for another one soon. I have a slight problem though, a drug misdemeanor. I went through all of the steps to resolve the problem, and it should be off of my record within the next year, but for now while I'm seeking employment would it be wise to be truthful on applications or just withhold information and see if they turn it up?

be honest. I used to be a recruiter and if you're honest they will consider you. I've had cases where people lied on their job application and it comes up, maybe not right away, but it always does and then they get terminated. Just be honest and let them know the steps you've taken to resolve the issue.

I have never seen "have you been convicted of a misdemeanor" on a job application. Have you been convicted of a felony yes. I don't think you will be asked, if you are say you got a marijuana citation once, don't be specific on the when. I'm assuming it was pot since it is a misdemeanor. Answer if asked but don't elaborate.

Never lie or withhold info. It might come back to haunt you.

They may do a background check, and if they find out from this, you could be discharged for withholding material info from your application.

It all depends, but so long it's not a felony it's usually not much to worry about, keep your nose clean and you should be fine.
