I'm sorry I did not add details... This is a macpro? Baught it used from an education surplus store. It does not seem to recognize a lot of it's software. I can open appleworks and similar programs but it will not open any major system files. It will not connect to the internet because I do not know how to open these files and I don't have any disks that I can reinstall. I could really use someone that could go in and just restart the whole system. I must take some responsibility for the thing not working, I don't know anything about macs and should not be messing with anything untiul I do.

You shouldn't be messing around with the system files if you don't know what you are doing. The ones you can 'mess' around with are the Applications, be careful with the Utilities that are in there you'll need them, and your Home folders. You should get commercial disks for your Mac if you don't have the originals. A couple apps you should have are Applejack, to repair your disk and a few other things, and Onyx for occasional maintenance, just run the default Automation settings.

if youre not heavy into graphics sell it and buy an excuse the expression (ibm compattable- thats old terminology for the mainstream best copmputers for genreal use) intell or amd. macs are and have always been the best for graphics but also the abysmally worst for user friendly internet useage. sorry to be soo blunt but macs give me a headache, just using them when they work and im pretty computer literate.
