first of all, glare at the bafoon, (unless its your kids or a vip) for not wiping or taking off shoes before coming in, i mean really, its a big peeve of mine.. anyway, let the mud dry. then vacumn it up, i mean more than once over. then if you can see anything, use a soft bristled brush and hot water only to get it out....

This weekend i cleaned my carpets and i used my own cleaners for shampoo. this is what i used: a little bit more than a little bit of powdered colorsafe bleach, a 1/2 cupish of downy, and s good long squirt of pantene shampoo(it is the body and volumizer fyi), and really really hot water. This stuff kicked ***!! i seriously recommend using this combo instead of regular carpet shampoo, which always leaves residew and it never rinses out of the carpet fully, making the stains and dirt to come back quick. Panteen takes care of grease, residue and dirt, i swear the downey made it softer, and i guess loosened up the carpet fibers so i got more dirt and crap out of it. and the colorsafe bleach just to kill everybad thing that was in it. my whole house smelled like downy... it just made my day!! i rinsed the carpet with hot hot hat water and lotsa downy... try it.
