Odoban is pretty good. But, for getting rid of odors - Better idea - Someone else mentioned charcoal. I have the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. Just place some of them around problem area. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Someone else even said available in England. Definitely worth trying

I have the same problem big time. For a quick fix use Nilodor which can be bought at supermarket. It actually works and does not just cover up the smell. You don't need much either.
The other way is what I know I have to do. Big job tho. Wash walls, wash all curtains, wipe over all wipeable furniture the get the carpets cleaned.
Don't allow people to smoke inside your house and stick to the same rule for yourself if you are a smoker. Otherwise give up smoking, which is exactly what I should do. hah!!! What a joke eh?
Good luck with getting the stink out. ;)

Cigarette odor is tricky. Not only does it seep into furniture, fabric, and carpeting, it also permeates the walls. Wash all fabric and upholstered items and shampoo carpeting. The walls are trickier. The best way is to simply paint them (consider a mold sealing primer if there are large smoker stains on the walls). If that isn't an option, scrub them from top to bottom with a good cleanser like 409. Good luck!

Setting out bowls of vinegar in varous rooms of your house will help alleviate the task of removing the odor. The vinegar will absorb most of the odor particles lingering in the air. When the vinegar has absorbded much of the odor, you will actually be able to see the vinegar change color.

Honestly paint and before you do that prime it with Kilz it is a sure fire way to take it back to new smelling. Of course change all the lamp shades shampoo carpets and furniture and wash everything in house clothing etc.... I did it and it has been 3 years still good.

Try baking cinnamon sticks in the oven on some grease proof paper for a few hours on a low heat - house will smell wonderful.
And stop smoking indoors.

Cigarette smoke gets into everything. Furniture, carpet and clings to the walls and ceilings.
A good steam cleaning of the carpets. Cleaning even the furniture. Clean and repaint the walls and ceiling.

Buy a de ionizer.
The way it works it pulls the smell out of a room. they are quite affordable, and what hotels use in smoking rooms, or in rooms when you complain of cigarette smoke smells.
they only take about 10 minutes to do a average sized room.

stop letting people smoke in your house!!! and if they go out to have a smoke, hose them down before they can come back inside.. this idea sounds like it might be a whole lotta fun!!!!! hummm.......everyone i know smokes, i let certain ones smoke when the kids are gone, if it smells all i do is set a dish of ammonia (lemon is good) out on the bar ( put one dish in each room you want the smell out of but not where kids or pets could get it, duh) and leave it overnight. i also ALWAYS have my windows and doors open and that helps alot... i use the glade plugins, too. ima psycho!!

Maybe wash every thing (drapes, blinds, bedding clothing etc.) spray febreeze all over the place. And umm smoke outside. We refuse to smoke in our home, we have a son and his health is to important to us. It is not fair to non smokers who live in the same house. Plus it reeks.
