Here's a few you can use to remove water rings and spots, Three solutions to remove white water rings and spots
Dampen a soft cloth with water and puf a dab of toothpaste on it. For stubborn stains, add baking soda to the toothpaste.
Make a paste of butter or mayonnaise and cigarette ashes. Apply to spot and buff away.
Apply a paste of salad oil and salt. Let stand briefly. Wipe and polish.

ouch. Could be bad news, depending upon the furniture. You may be looking at needing to sand it down and refinish the piece.
What happens is there is a breakdown of materials in the finish on the wood (assuming it's wood), and it actually ends up somewhat stripping your furniture in a nice perfect circle and allows a place for minor mildew to happen. Starting with a disinfectant or real cleaner first, then trying to touch it up is oft times the best bet.
It really does depend upon the material the furniture is made out of, tho.

use regular toothpaste. my sister had the same problem and it worked like a charm!!
