Canadians did it to themselves... pouring all that money into the stadiums in Montreal for the Expos, they were in so much debt, that MLB was forced to buy the team, in order to help the canadian team survive. That's like getting an apartment, and pimping it out with a flat screen, surround sound, massage lazy boy recliner, and mini bar, and not having enough for food, cable, or rent...having to have ur mom bail u out and let u move back in...then on top of that for a couple year the Expos laid there, and while someone could have stepped in and started making desicisions MLB decided to trade away a top player or two every year, make the rest of the teams exciting, finally they had to just cut there losses... as for NHL, it just came of a strike year, granite, I missed it, but it's just not the same as it was when I was younger, kids in the states these days are more into bsaeball and lacrosse, instead of hockey, so if they were so damn close to ending the NHL forever how oculd u be complaining they didnt not alone keep it, but add a few teams, I'm sure there will be atleast one more team in canada cause it just seems right... but chill... lastly, NFL, wtf, u guys have the CFL, who would want to play in the CFL for $100,000/year minimum (just a guess) if they could play in the NFL... plus half the guys in the CFL, just like the AFL are NFL rejects, and NFL EUROPE are pros in Europe houning there skills... so chill out, get a better fan base for things besides hockey and then ***** abuot stuff...ps its too cold half the season to play baseball in my opinion

The Expos had an owner buy the franchise with the intent of running it into the ground so that he could move it elsewhere...same owner has tried the same thing with the Florida Marlins since he bought them. Baseball in Montreal was doomed after that situation as fans were driven away.
Quebec Nordiques were a greedy owner who wanted a bigger market (Denver) with a newer more profitable arena. One could say the same of what happened in Winnipeg except that the current owners in Phoenix say they would have had better support were the team still there.
The Grizzlies are the one team that, I believe, the league bailed on. I was very disappointed with how the NBA did not embrace the Vancouver market. The players certainly did, but the league seemed to turn a cold shoulder. That being said, the team gets sold to another owner with no intention of keeping the franchise there and poof, we have bears in Memphis.
NFL is a currency and market size issue. There are three Canadian markets, and now that Calgary is over a million, maybe four that would be a very small market home if the NFL ever did cross the border. The NFL is looking to expand and increase revenues...moving to smaller markets would not assist in this regard and, if anything, would hurt revenues as their television contracts would take a beating. When you figure that the population base of the Jets and Giants is more than half the entire population of Canada, it is no wonder they would not bother. Also, with Toronto in particular there has always been a severe lack of support for any sport other than the Maple Leafs...why would the NFL not see this as a sign that it would not fly here?
Simply put, I will give that the Grizzlies were pulled out of Vancouver under questionable circumstances. Beyond that, pro sports is a business. Canada, with a low US exchange rate, is good for exporting goods and services...not the other way around, unfortunately.

The NHL is the only league of the ones you mentioned that was originally Canadian.
We all know it is now controlled by Americans.Do these leagues blackball Canada? I don't think they actually go out of their way to. It's a matter of putting the USA first (nothing wrong with that) Gary Bettman, of the NHL, though, has no interest in moving a team or expanding to Canada.
In hockey I blame Canadians for not standing up and saying enough is enough. It was a sad day when the Montreal Canadiens were bought by an American. No Canadian seemed to be interested in them. That's like someone not American buying the NY Yankee's. Americans would never allow that to happen. Who saved Phoenix and Pittsburg? Canadians not Americans. I've never heard a Canadian hockey player say there should be more teams in Canada, or "I want to play in Canada" let alone financially help a Canadian team.

OK the NFL won't support Canada because Canada has the CFL. They already have their own version of the sport and don't want out version. Anyway the thing is Canada has a weaker dollar then America and the players are ALL payed in the U.S. Dollar. So it takes MORE support in a Canadian city then it does in an American city. They aren't getting enough support in Canada to keep the business in good shape. They have a hard time breaking even let alone making money.

Canadians just don't embrace typical American sports like they do with hockey. I had been to a few Expos games in my time when I lived in Upstate NY, and you just can't survive on 500 fans a night. I think they would support an NFL team, so all you Bills fans, don't be surprised if that worm Ralph Wilson moves to Toronto.

many of the Canadian NHL teams that left Canada were because of the weak Canadian dollar, but now the Canadian dollar is high and Canadian teams can compete. Remeber Canada also as the CFL (canadian football league), we also have college sports too. As for MLB, baseball is an Amercian sport not really a Canadian, and thus Canadians didn't really adapt.

This seems to be the result of revenue issues. Not a conspiracy. The Canadian dollar has been strong in recent years and the US dollar weakening. It is hard to imagine that the motives are anything other than monetarily based.
As for the comment putting down Canada, way to show your class.
Canada supports less sports than the US. You do not find college basketball, football etc. dominating the airwaves on the weekend. Apparently, they have more interesting things to do then watch a bunch of arrogant college kids and foolish sponsors.

Called the jukesicals, the Jersey Boys intertwine their biography and songs wonderfully that tells the rags-to-riches story of the 4 blue collared kids that were in search of stardom. The really comitted fans of this band go inside their shows and concerts knowing all their songs by heart.
